A controversy has cropped up over the presence of 'Nara Birala' painting on the chariots after the chief carpenter of Nadighosh Ratha (chariot of Lord Jagannath) Bijay Mohapatra questioned the tradition of such image on the chariots.
The Odisha police have prepared a detailed security blue-print for the world famous Ratha Yatra at Puri scheduled to be held on July 12.
In a bid to prevent congregation of devotees in and around the Baladevjew temple, the Kendrapara district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC for the smooth conduct of SnanaYatra (divine bathing rituals of the holy trinity) today.

Just like last year, Ratha Yatra will be conducted only in Puri and that too without the participation of devotees this year. In a major announcement on Thursday, Odisha Development Commissioner, Pradeep Jena informed that Ratha Yatra will be conducted abiding by the Supreme Court guidelines of 2020.
The construction of chariots for the Holy Trinity’s annual Rath Yatra in Puri is going on in full swing with the traditional carpenters (Maharana Sevayats) carving out the Tumba (circular axles of wheels) of three chariots on the Ratha Khala.
