A five –tier security arrangements have been made by Odisha Police for the holy Snana Purnima festival to be observed at Puri Jagannath temple.
ADG, Law and Order, RK Sharma said, “As the Snana Purnima festival will be held with the participation of devotees, elaborate security arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the rituals.”
As per Sharma, 52 platoons of police force, 3 Commandants, 11 Additional SPs, 270 Sub-Inspectors/Assistant Sub Inspector rank officers, 1000 constables/home guards will be deployed on Snana Purnima.
“We have installed 40 CCTV cameras for ensuring strict surveillance during Snana Purnima and the number will be increased during Rath Yatra,” Sharma added.
IG Central Range, Narasingha Bhol said a five-tier security arrangements have been made for the Snana Purnima ritual. There will be different arrangements for Hati Besha and other rituals.
“We are focusing on a detailed arrangement keeping in view the congregation of devotees both inside and outside the Puri Jagannath temple. Barricades will be installed outside the temple for crowd management,” said Bhol.
Senior officials informed that apart from Puri temple, elaborate security and traffic arrangements will be in place for Puri town as well.
“Police personnel have been directed to assist devotees and interact with them in polite manner. We will also urge devotees to be extra vigilant while taking bath in Puri sea,” Bhol added.
