Bhubaneswar: The 15-day long annual Adivasi Mela (Tribal Fair) commenced here from Monday at the Adivasi Exhibition Ground.
Inaugurating the fair, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, said: “this year there are more tribal products ranging from food items to jewellery and wooden crafts among others are to be sold with good quality”.
This year, total 164 stalls were put up and 25 tribal communities are ready to showcase their lifestyle, culture and foods to the visitors.
Priyanka Rath, a visitor who was present at the ground, said, “one can get a glimpse tribal people’s life style and their colourful mud houses with thatched roofs, products.”
Organised by the state Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) department, the fair will end on February 9.
Extensive security arrangements have been made with installing around 32 CCTV cameras on the ground to ensure safety for visitors.
The stage is also set for some cultural programmes like dance and music shows to be performed by the tribal communities each evening to entertain the audience.
