Bhubaneswar: Students and Educationists in Odisha raised eyebrows over the presence of Tirupati Panigrahi, who was arrested by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch on charges of duping investors by promising land and released on bail by the Supreme Court recently, in the Policy Planning Board (PPB) meeting held yesterday.
“Panigrahi should have said no to the meeting and someone else from the Odisha Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association should have been sent to attend. The convener of the meeting could have also asked Panigrahi not to be present in the meeting,” said Surendra Nath Mohanty, an educationist.
Meanwhile, the PPB told sources who will be a member of the body is decided by the state government as per the guidelines established by the apex court.
Panigrahi was called into the meeting due to his capacity as the president of the Odisha Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association, sources added.
