The ‘Golden Boy’ of India, Neeraj Chopra, who is in Bhubaneswar to take part in the National Federation Senior Athletics Competition, heaped praise on his compatriot and local lad Kishore Jena. 

While replying to queries of journalists at the Bhubaneswar airport, Chopra said, “He (Kishore Jena) is a good athlete. He will perform better this year.”

In fact, Chopra and Jena, who won a silver medal at the Asian Games, will face each other at an event on the last day of the National Federation Senior Athletics Competition underway at the Kalinga Stadium. They came face to face at the recently-concluded Doha Diamond League. 

Chopra shot into the limelight after winning a gold medal for India at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. At the Doha Diamond League, while Chopra won a silver medal, Jena finished ninth. 

Both Chopra and Jena have secured the Paris 2024 Olympic berth.
