Bhubaneswar: The new domestic carrier Air Vistara which is slated to start operations from October 1 will have a test run from Bhubaneswar to Delhi on Tuesday.
According to sources, the flight for the trial run has already reached at the Bhubaneswar airport.
The trail run is done by the authorities to scrutinize the runway and it also aims to check their preparations in the distribution of boarding pass, check-in, luggage transportation, etc.
Earlier on September 26 airport director Sharad Kumar after attending a conference of airline companies in South Africa, had informed mediapersons that in good news for flyers, more than 20 airlines have shown interest to begin operations from the Biju Patnaik International Airport.
“We have held discussions with around 20-21 leading airlines about scheduled as well as charter flights and we are hopeful that some of them will soon launch their flight operations from Bhubaneswar,” said Kumar.
Meanwhile, airport sources said that after Vistara starts operations, there will be eight daily flights to the national capital.
Notably, Vistara’s aircraft has 138 seats – 16 for business class, 36 for premium economy and 96 for economy. Like GoAir, Vistara will also be offering considerably cheap air fares to passengers.
