Parents of school students in Odisha have stepped up their demands seeking preponement of the summer vacations for educational institutions, especially for schools in view of the intense summer heat situation.  

The decision to cut down summer break has been taken to compensate for the academic days lost on account of Covid-19 related dislocation.

According to sources, the Higher Education department is likely to make an announcement in this regard soon after a review. 

Summer vacation will begin on June 6 and continue till June 16. The schools will reopen after the vacation on June 17.

The state government has also announced that the morning classes will continue in the State. However, a revision has been made in the timings.
