As expected, the Odisha government on Monday released a formal notification curtailing the summer vacation in higher educational intuitions (HEIs) and State public universities.

In its latest notification, the Higher Education Department informed that the summer vacation will now be allowed for a brief period from June 1 to June 16, 2022.

The decision to cut down summer break has been taken to compensate for the academic days lost on account of Covid-19 related dislocation.

The government has directed vice-chancellors of all state public universities and principals of government and non-government degree colleges to ensure completion of all academic activities in time.

The higher education department has clearly directed the authorities to organise extra classes on holidays and working days by suitably extending teaching hours, if needed.

“Teachers and other employees will be entitled for additional proportionate earned leave in lieu of such curtailment of the summer vacation, which will be communicated in due course of time,” the notification read.
