Khordha reported the highest number of 60 new cases followed by Cuttack (32), Sundargarh (13), Subarnapur (8), and Puri (5).
Meanwhile, at least 20 more people have succumbed to COVID in the State taking the overall death toll to 8,904.
Odisha is likely to be in a better position by next month and hospitalisation rate has also decreased to 8-9 per cent, said Bijay Mohapatra, Director, Health Services, Odisha.
The active cases in the State stand at 21,525 as a total of 12,37,976 people have so far recovered from the disease, including 3,624 on Sunday, said I&PR Department data.
Khordha district, comprising the Capital City Bhubaneswar, reported the maximum cases of 513, followed by 291 in Sundargarh and 138 in Cuttack, respectively.
With this, the cumulative Covid-19 positive tally in the State has surged to 12,59,405 while a total of 12,15,380 people have recovered from the infection so far.
Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra said that Covid guidelines in the State have been designed to control the spread of the infections without disrupting the livelihoods of people.
Out of the 7,071 cases, 4,128 were detected in quarantine while 2,943 are local contact cases
Odisha had set a target to complete 90 per cent vaccination as per Modi government's 'Har Ghar Dastak' or the door-to-door Covid-19 vaccination campaign.
Of the 318 new cases, 186 were from quarantine centres while the remaining 132 were local contacts. Khurda district of which Bhubaneswar is a part, recorded the highest of 139 cases, followed by Cuttack (31).
Odisha currently has 4,581 active cases, while 603 people were cured of the disease on Friday, taking the total number of recoveries to 10,25,025.
As per the government data, Odisha has recorded 615 cases in the last 24 hours including 323 from Khordha alone on October 13.
Odisha Health Director Bijay Mohapatra urged the people in the State to get double doses of vaccines at the earliest as the effect of post-Covid effects on the fully vaccinated people are less.
The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) for the day stood at 1.11%.
High rate of infections among children and adolescents has become a major cause of concern for the health authorities when Odisha government is preparing for possible third wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
Odisha currently has 9,664 active cases while 9,81,316 patients have recovered so far, including 845 on Wednesday.
The Covid positive tally in Odisha also rose to 9,70,814 after as many as 1,629 people tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.
Cuttack has the highest daily infection count today among all the districts in the State with as many as 335 people testing positive for the virus in the district.
