The active Covid-19 case tally in Odisha breached 600-mark on Wednesday after the State reported 161 new infections in the last 24 hours.

According to I & PR Department, a total of 161 new infections have been reported in the State, a rise of 48 cases from yesterday's tally.

The department said 24 out of the total new cases are in the age group of 0-18 years. While 95 are quarantine cases, the remaining 66 are local contacts.

Khordha reported the highest number of 60 new cases followed by Cuttack (32), Sundargarh (13), Subarnapur (8), and Puri (5). The State Pool registered 15 cases.

With the fresh addition, the number of active cases in the State jumped to 629. As many as 49 new recoveries have been detected in the last 24 hours.

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the State has recorded 12,89,602 confirmed cases. While 12,79,794 patients have recovered, 9,126 succumbed to the virus.
