Odisha continued to witness a downtrend in new Covid-19 infections as the State registered 3629 new cases including 515 from 0 to 18 years age group in the last 24 hours, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Of the new cases detected on Thursday, 2,115 were detected in quarantine while 1,514 are local contact cases. 

Khordha district reported the highest 716 infections, followed by 346 in Sundargarh and 329 in Cuttack.

Cases in other districts: 

Kendrapada(149), Mayurbhanj (142), Jajpur (137), Nayagarh (118), Rayagada (101), Sambalpur (101), Nabarangpur (90), Nabarangpur (89), Kalahandi (85), Nuapada (70), Deogarh (68), Gajapati (56), Dhenkanal (55), Puri (53), Jharsuguda (51), Kandhamal (47), Keonjhar (44), Sonepur (35), Koraput (31),  Malkangiri (23) and State Pool (160).

With this, the cumulative Covid-19 positive tally in the State has surged to 12,59,405 while a total of 12,15,380 people have recovered from the infection so far. The active cases stood at 35,306, informed the I&PR Department.

On the other hand, the State reported 18 fatalities due to Covid-19 pushing the death toll to 8,666, informed the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

In terms of deaths, three deaths were reported from Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, and Sundargarh districts while one each from Balasore, Deogarh and Nayagarh districts, added the health department.

Odisha so far has tested 2,78,12,224 samples, including 66,702 in the last 24 hours, for Covid-19 while the test positivity rate stood 5.4 per cent in the State.
