On the arrest of middlemen, ACP Amitabh Mohapatra informed, “We had deployed our staff in plain clothes at the casualty wing of the SCB. We have arrested five brokers and seized some outdoor tickets and cash worth Rs 1500.”

A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Orissa High Court, seeking a direction to the state government to implement Ayushman Bharat Yojana, a national public health insurance scheme of the central government.
The High Court wanted to know the specific policy for lifting sand from sand mining points. In 2016, the Central Government had issued guidelines regarding the lifting of sand from river beds. The petitioner informed the court about the violation of the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
Debendra Sahu, secretary of the Chhatra Bazaar Traders' Association, said, ”The old stocks of garlic have exhausted. The arrival of new crops will take time at least 10 to 15 days. Since the supplies have dwindled, the prices are soaring. The price will come down only after fresh supplies arrive.”

The bus named Shree Laxmi was enroute to Choudwar from Deogarh when the driver lost control of the steering wheel and climbed over the divider near Nuapatna.
Following the incident, the student was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. Later, the family members lodged a formal complaint at Athagarh Police Station in connection with the incident.
