Cuttack has a rich maritime history which says that the traders’ sons (Sadhab pua) use to go to Java Sumatra Island to do business and brings lot of wealth here. To recollect this history every year Baliyatra, a weeklong festival is being organized here. Cuttack is the birth place of Subash Chandra Bose. As per reports, Kadaiska was picked by CRPF and police on suspicion of being a Maoist and taken to Chandrapur Police Station in Rayagada district in 2010. He allegedly succumbed to injuries due to third degree in the custody of the security forces on June 3, 2010.
