Several parts of Odisha on Tuesday experienced thunderstorm and hailstone showers including the millennium city of Cuttack. Heavy rainfall in the afternoon led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas in the city.

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorm is likely to continue in several parts of the state. An ‘Orange Warning’ for thunderstorm with lightning and hailstorm has also been issued for several districts for the next 24 hours.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 22.03.2023)

Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph and hailstorm are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Puri, Ganjam, Khordha, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Jagatsinghpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Nuapada.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.03.2023 to 0830 hrs ISTof 23.03.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.03.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 24.03.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput.
