Scores of students appearing in the matriculation examination in Odisha expressed dissatisfaction after finding several mistakes in the social science question paper on Saturday. The examinees at Brudaban Government High School alleged that there were several questions from Set A in Set B question paper.

Moreover, the question number 19 was also missing from the set. As a result, the students had only attempted 49 questions today. The students were left worried over such goof-up as the entire evaluation will be based on OMR sheet and there is every possibility that they will score less marks for such mistake.

“There were A set questions in Set B which was given to me. One question was also missing in the set. I urge Board authorities to ensure that no mark is deducted,” said Baisakhi Priyadarshini, a student.

Another student, Sudhanshu Mallick said, “We had appeared the examination with lot of difficulties. We are in a state of panic and all depends on the Board.”

Pradyumna Naik, a teacher said, “As the questions have been changed in the question paper set, students will not get marks despite answering the correct answers as many have appeared the exam with 49 questions.”

Admitting the errors, BSE President Ramashish Hazra said, “The Board is aware of the issue which is mainly a printing error. The students need not to worry as the Board will take appropriate steps in this regard.”

The BSE president said that all the exam centres have been asked to provide a list of students who faced similar issues while appearing the examination today.

“Keeping in view such issues, we will re-fix the programme for the evaluation of OMR sheets and there is no need to conducting the examination again. The Board will fix up a formula and the entire evaluation will be done accordingly,” Hazra added.
