Bhadrak is a city of Odisha state in eastern India. It came into existence on 1 April 1993. According to legend, the city derives its name from the Goddess Bhadrakali whose temple is on the banks of the Salandi River. Dhamra, one of the deep draft ports of India which can accommodate super cape-size vessels is situated in Bhadrak. Bhadrak is also famous for Palua Ladu, special kind of sweet.
While Das’ father and mother names are on the top position of the viral campaigner list, elderly persons, uncles and aunties are in the second and third position.
Today it is to be seen whether rebel BJD leader Rajendra Das will withdraw his nomination papers, obeying party discipline or will stick to his guns.
The BJD’s list has 40 names as its star campaigners, excluding actor-turned politician Anubhav Mohanty and Minister Samir Dash.

The Dhamnagar bypoll is all set to see a fight between Abanti Das (BJD), Suryabanshi Suraj (BJP), Baba Harekrushna Sethi (Congress) and Rajendra Das (Independent).
For the by-poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) have fielded Suryabanshi Suraj, son of late Bishnu Charan Sethi, Baba Harekrushna Sethi and Abanti Das respectively.
Registering their dissatisfaction over Rajendra Das being sidelined, the former legislator’s supporters urged him to contest independently.

The BJD's candidate for Dhamnagar by-election Abanti Das is the present Tihidi block chairperson and is said to have vast experience in Mission Shakti.

The alert has been issued for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal and Rayagada.
The voting will be conducted on November 3 from 7 am to 6 pm. The counting of votes and announcement of results will be done on November 6, 2022.
