The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Congress on Saturday announced the lists of star campaigners for Dhamnagar by-election.
The BJD’s list has 40 names as its star campaigners, excluding actor-turned politician Anubhav Mohanty and Minister Samir Dash.
The conch party’s star campaigners include Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Pranab Prakash Das, Prasanna Acharya, Debi Prasad Mishra, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Prafulla Samal, Pramila Mallik, Pratap Keshari Deb, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Ashok Chandra Panda, Amar Prasad Satpathy, Arun Kumar Sahoo, Pritiranjan Gharai, Rajendra Dholkia, Snehangini Chhuria, Sudam Marndi, Pranab Balabantaray, Byomkesh Ray and Capt. Dibya Shankar Mishra among others.
The Congress has also released its list of 30 star campaigners for the Dhamnagar bypoll. But the list doesn’t have the name of Barabati-Cuttack MLA Md Moquim.
The grand old party’s star campaigners for the bypoll include A Chella Kumar, in-charge of AICC Odisha; G Rudra Rju, AICC secretary; Sarat Patnaik, president of OPCC; Narasingha MIshra, Niranjan Patnaik, Jayadev Jena, Prasad Harichandan, Chiranjib Biswal, Bhakta Charan Das, Saptagiri Sankar Ullaka, Rama Chandra Khuntia, Sushila Tiria, Sarat Rout, Suresh Kumar Routray, Santosh Singh Saluja and Taraprasad Bahinipati among others.
The Bharatiya Janata Party released its list of star campaigners on Friday. It features 40 names as the party’s star campaigners including State BJP Chief Samir Mohanty, party's state In-charge, three Union Ministers, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, National Vice-President Baijayant Panda and National Spokesperson Sambit Patra.
For the bypoll, the BJP has fielded Suryavanshi Suraj, son of late Bishnu Sethi. Similarly, the BJD and Congress have chosen Abanti Das and Baba Harekrushna Sethi as their respective candidates. 'Rebel' BJD leader Rajendra Das is in the arena as an independent candidate.
