Bargarh is a district on the Western border of Odisha connecting to Chhattisgarh. Prior to 1992; it was a subdivision of Sambalpur district. It is also famous for Dhanuyatra, the largest open air theater in the world. Debrigarh wild life Sanctuary which has miscellaneous forest fringing the Hirakud reservoir and is an abode of Tiger, Leopard, Gaur, Sambar, Spotted deer and Chowsingha is in Bargarh district.
Local residents claimed that just hours after taking food at the programme, many villagers were taken ill. ‘Stale dal’ was served to them at the programme, they alleged.

As per reports, thousands of packets of paddy at Barikel Mandi in Odisha’s rice bowl, Bargarh have been waiting to be lifted by millers since the last one month. But it has been alleged that neither the millers nor the Regulated Market Committee (RMC) cared for their plight.

A garbage pile near a house on the police reserve campus was burning this morning. Twin sons of a police official were basking near the fire when a cracker, which was thrown into the pile, exploded. The 7-year-old kids sustained critical burns.
