A woman at Barbhatta under Bargarh’s Padampur block is recently in the news after she was seen giving an earful to a cultural group propagating free rice and free house schemes at the village.

Sources said the woman named Sakhi Bariha stopped a cultural group midway while singing songs praising the Odisha government and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The group sang about the free rice and houses distributed by the Odisha government.

In a video that has gone viral, Bariha could be seen asking the group to tell the truth and refrain from misleading the people. She asked the group who is actually providing free rice and home to people under the National Food Security Act and PM Awas Yojana?

With this, she further asks the group to sing in praise of PM Modi who has actually launched all these schemes.

Speaking to OTV, Bariha said, “The schemes are launched by the Centre and PM Modi is providing free rice and homes to the people. When I heard the group singing a song praising Naveen Patnaik for the same schemes, I decided to confront them.”

“The group said they were singing as per the instruction and could not sing praising PM Modi. But when I reasoned with them, they finally agreed and sang praising the Central government and PM Modi before going away,” she said.

Recently, tension had prevailed at Tanaga panchayat under Mayurbhanj’s Jamda block after a Jogan Sayayak (Supply Assistant) was seen distributing PDS rice under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s poster.

The villagers reportedly protested the act and asked the Supply Assistant to remove the posters, which he obliged after apologising to them.

It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP has been attacking the BJD-led Odisha government, claiming that the state government has been hijacking the schemes of the Central government by printing its own photographs on advertisements in a bid to take credit.
