Over 300 people of Dumerpali in Bargarh district were taken ill allegedly after consuming food, particularly ‘stale dal’, at a feast organised during the 'Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha' programme on Tuesday.

Local residents claimed that just hours after taking food at the programme, many villagers were taken ill. They further alleged that ‘stale dal’ was served to them at the programme.

On being informed, a six-member medical team reached the village and started treatment.

Nyaya Sahu, one of the affected villagers said, "I went to the feast and ate some rice and dal. After some hours, I felt uneasy and had vomiting followed by loose motions.”

Dr Jaypal Senapati, Public Health Officer of Bargarh said, “After we got information about the incident, we rushed to the village. An Ayush doctor and an ANM were already there in the village. About 300 people were affected by vomiting and loose motions, but their condition is not serious.”
