An investigation into a 10-month-old firing case led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle in Gajapati district of Odisha on Saturday. A police team found the AK-47 rifle, 28 live bullets and two magazines inside Bijikupari forest under Adaba police jurisdiction in the district while probing the firing case over witchcraft. According to sources, one Dambaru Majhi, who hails from a village under Adaba police limits, was shot at on suspicion of witchcraft on February 7 this year. However, he had luckily escaped the attack and lodged a complaint in this regard. Acting on the complaint, the police had arrested the accused reportedly involved in the firing from Jadingi village. The accused was charged with attempted murder. After interrogation, the accused made shocking revelations which led the police team to the forest and the AK-47 rifle along with bullets was recovered.
