Handing over our first salary to our parents is one of the best feelings in the world. The gesture reflects respect, gratitude to our parents and a sense of responsibility. But, imagine if your parents start demanding 65% of your salary every month.

Yes, you read that right! A man has sparked a debate online after he revealed that his strict father, who did not pay for his education, has been demanding Rs 65% of his monthly salary.

In the viral post, the man revealed how his father did not pay a single paisa for his B. Tech. Instead, he had to take a loan for his studies and is repaying it through EMIs. But, he has been demanding 65% of his salary after he got a job.

Sharing his story, he wrote, “I recently graduated and I am working in IT since September 2023 in NCR and I earn 80k per month. I wanted to thank my parents by giving my first salary and I gave them 50 thousand rupees. Ever since then my parents have been demanding 50 thousand rupees every month from me.”

“I feel that I am being controlled by them. One day casually I asked my parents what are they doing with the money I gave to which they answered that they were saving my money for my sister's marriage. My parents also confirmed that their wealth would be shared equally between us. I feel very bad because my sister who is raised equally with me will be eating my salary which I earned without working apart from her share of family wealth. I don't feel like I am independent and I don't get the feeling that I am building my wealth on my own,” he added.
