Notwithstanding the detection of cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Odisha, the State Mass Education Minister Samir Dash on Saturday said that the Summative Assessment-I of Class 10 students scheduled to be held on January 5, 2022 will be conducted on the scheduled dates.

The marks obtained by the students in the term examination will help in the evaluation process.

“The Summative Assessment-I of Class 10 will be conducted on January 5 next year, as per schedule. The assessment should be essentially conducted before the annual matric examination. In case the general Board exams could not be held, the marks of the term examinations will help in the evaluation process,” said the Minister.

“The government has laid down the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be followed by the schools in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 cases. Besides, the department is in regular touch will the nodal officers and meetings are being conducted with the District Education Officers (DEOs) over the issue, “added Dash.

The Summative Assessment- I of Class 10 was scheduled to be conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) from December 27, 2021. However, it was postponed as the examination dates were coinciding with Christmas holidays. The assessment was later rescheduled from January 5, 2022 to January 8, 2022.

Around 5.70 lakh students will appear the matric examination this year, the BSE had said.
