Illegal Firecrackers Worth Rs 5 Lakh Seized In Cuttack

A huge cache of illegal firecrackers was seized in Cuttack on the ocassion of Diwali on Thursday. A team of Lalbag Police raided a building at Chaudi Sahi and confisctated firecrackers worth around Rs 5 lakh from the location. A youth named Rahul Bhagat has been arrested on charges for operating the cracker selling unit. After interrogation of the accused, police revealed that he had been stashing firecrackers at the unit after procuring them outside to sell them in Cuttack for Diwali festivities. The Orissa High Court has recently permitted the State governemnt to allow trade and use of only green crackers during Diwali. Prior to that Odisha government had banned the sale of firecrackers in view of Covid pandemic.

Car Falls Into Canal In Bhubaneswar Outskirts, 2 Youths Go Missing

In a shocking incident, two youths went missing after the car they were travelling in fell into a canal in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday midnight.

Sources informed, two vehicles of a company were on their way to Shivshakti Nagar. However, the driver of one of the vehicles reportedly lost control of the steering and fell into the Puri main canal near Atala under Balianta Police limits. 

A team of Fire officials rushed to the spot after receiving the reports about the incident. The rescue team launched a rescue operation and lifted up the car from the canal with the help of an earthmover machine. 

However, the two youths including the driver have not been traced yet.
