Junking all the trumpet blowing by the Opposition Congress over the bypoll results, BJP  National Vice President Baijayant Panda on Wednesday said the clean sweep in Assam and NDA winning a majority of the seats at the hustings clearly show the whole-hearted support of people to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's developmental model of governance.

The bypoll outcome shows the trust and appreciation for PM Modi across the country, especially in the North East where people have overwhelmingly supported and given a landslide win to NDA, said the former Parliamentarian.

As per the bypoll results announced on Tuesday, the BJP-led NDA made a clean sweep of all the five Assembly constituency seats in Assam. Jay Panda has been in-charge of the State.

"In comparison to all the previous Prime Ministers, PM Modi is the one who has made most visits to the North East. He is clearly focussed on the development of North East - be it bringing the region into the railway map of the country for the first time or taking the pledge to free it from the claws of narcotics," said Panda.

He further made it a point that the BJP alliance had alone secured 13 out of 25 seats while all other parties could manage a win in 12 constituencies.

The BJP national VP termed the claims of the Opposition that the results show BJP is losing traction and a precursor of what awaits for the party in the upcoming Assembly elections as unfounded.

BJP alone continued to gain more than the entire Opposition and this dominant picture in  Indian politics has remained so for the last several years, he added.
