One Held With Brown Sugar Worth Rs 20 Lakh In Odisha 

The sleuths of Jaleswar excise department in Balasore district on Thursday seized 200 gram of brown sugar and arrested one person in this connection. According to sources, the accused was en route to Sungadia area of Baripada from neighbouring West Bengal on a motorcycle bearing registration number OD 11 F 9386 when the excise patrolling team waylaid him on suspicion. During the search, the team seized 200 gram brown sugar worth Rs 20 lakh and arrested the youth. He has been identified as Sanjay Singh of Baripada Town police station area.

Odisha Reports 1,948 Covid-19 Cases, 67 Deaths In Last 24 Hours

Odisha on Thursday reported 1,948 Covid-19 cases and 67 fatalities due to the virus, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department. With this, the positive tally in the State rose to 9,61,934 and death toll touched 5,308.

Similarly, active cases remained at 19,623  while recoveries stood at 9,36,950, added the H&FW Department.

The State has so far tested over 1,52,78,399 samples for Covid-19, including 72,061 in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 2.67%.

A total of 2,94,07,296 jabs of vaccines have been administered to people across the State including 2,24,96,884 first dose. Similarly, 69,10,412people have been inoculated with both doses of the vaccines.
