In Jharsuguda, Odisha, a man named Sujit Ray killed his wife and daughter before committing suicide due to debts accrued from online gambling. The bodies were discovered in a car, leading to a police investigation that highlighted the severe consequences of gambling-related financial stress.

Upon being informed, local police reached the spot with a scientific team. Investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik's helicopter was unable to make a landing at Bhubaneswar airport due to bad weather conditions caused by Nor’wester activities.

In a tragic mishap, at least seven people died and one is still missing after a boat carrying about 50 people capsized in the Mahanadi River in Jharsuguda on Friday.

About 50 people including children and women from Kharsia area in neighbouring Chhattisgarh state had gone to a temple on an islet in the middle of the river.
