Direct flight services between Odisha's Jharuguda and Bengaluru commenced on Wednesday. 

As per reports, an Indigo plane from Bengaluru landed at Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda at 12.40 pm amid a water salute to the aircraft. Then, the plane took off at 1 pm for Bengaluru.

Indigo launched its flight services between Jharsuguda and Kolkata on November 5. 

It is said that people from most parts of western Odisha and parts of neighbouring Chhattisgarh will benefit from the flight services to Bengaluru and Kolkata. 

Sources said that the number of passengers is increasing at Jharuguda airport.

Spice Jet has already been providing flight services from Veer Surendra Sai Airport to Kolkata and New Delhi.  Besides, Alliance Air is operating flights from this airport to Bhubaneswar. 
Local residents have expressed their happiness over increasing air connectivity to multiple destinations in the country.
