Man 'flogged' to death in Odisha’s Jharsuguda; one detained

In a shocking incident, a person was beaten to death on the street by the members of another family in the Laikera area of Jharsuguda district late on Monday night. 

The preliminary report pointed out that the murder was the fallout of a dispute between two families.

The deceased has been identified as Bipin Bhoi, 25, of Patrapalli village. The family of the deceased had a fight with Satya Kisan and his family members for some reason. Bipin’s family alleged that Kisan's family members beat him with lathis, following which he died.

The bereaved family filed a complaint at the police station in this regard.

Suneli Bhoi, the wife of the deceased said that the family they had a dispute with beat her husband. “After the death of my husband, how will I and my child survive? I want justice,” she added.

Following the complaint, a team of police personnel led by the SDPO started an investigation into the murder with the help of a scientific team. The accused Satya has been detained and interrogated. 

Jharsuguda SDPO Nirmal Mohapatra said that a complaint was received that the family of Bipin had a fight with Satya Kisan and his family members. "Bipin was beaten to death by Satya and his family members. A case has been registered and an investigation into the murder is underway with the help of a scientific team," he added.
