Security arrangements have been tightened at the Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to halt here on Thursday during his visit to Chhattisgarh.

As per reports, Modi will dedicate rail sector projects worth around Rs 6,350 crore during his one-day visit to the neighbouring state today.

However, the PM’s flight is likely to have a brief halt at the Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda as a precautionary measure due to the torrential rain and inclement weather in Chhattisgarh. Subsequently, PM Modi will fly to Chhattisgarh in a special Army chopper.

PM Modi is scheduled to reach Raigarh at around 3:15 pm and his flight may land at Jharsuguda Airport at 2 pm.

As per the protocol, tight security arrangements have been made at the airport. Along with the police personnel, PM’s security personnel have also been deployed at the airport. Besides, three choppers of the Indian Army have reached the spot to strengthen the security arrangements further.

As per reports, all the security arrangements have been finalised. Jharsuguda Collector and SP have also reviewed the security arrangements ahead of the PM’s likely halt at the airport.
