The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved the appointments and premature repatriation of 43 additional secretary- and joint secretary-level officers including the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief, Krishan Kumar.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Monday released the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which will come into effect from February 1, until further guidelines.

A uniform policy (2003) was brought in to facilitate the settlement of land to eligible people. From 2001 to 2010, 291 acres had been settled; 96 acres were settled between 2011 and 2021.

The Supreme Court had directed the SJTA (in 2018) to provide stay for 60,000 devotees who throng Puri for the darshan of Lord Jagannath and stay in the spiritual environment the pilgrim town

At a time when the issue pertaining to missing keys of Ratna Bhandara continues to haunt the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), it seems to have attracted a fresh trouble over huge pendency of utilisation certificates (UCs). 

The home of the Holy Trinity and the pilgrim city of the state, Puri, is likely to get a new name soon. As per reports, several names are being considered for the same such as - ‘Shree Jagannath Puri’ or ‘Shree Jagannath Dham Puri’. On Tuesday, a proposal for the same was discussed during the meeting of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

SJTA verified the documents and declared those to be fake. The administration denied any approval of land transfer in favour of any person. Following that the SJTA on Monday filed a complaint with the Singhadwar police in connection with the matter, informed sources.

In view of prevailing pandemic and anticipated rush during observance of Durga Puja special precautions are being taken at temples and places of worship. The Puri Srimandir will remain closed for the devotees on the occasion of Durga Puja on October 15.
