Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have been eliminated from the playoff race in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are also following the same path and are almost out of contention for a play-off berth despite winning three consecutive matches.

RCB have so far played 11 games, losing seven while securing a victory in four games. Even if they manage to beat the rivals in the remaining three contests, they would reach 14 points and that doesn’t guarantee them a spot in the playoffs.

Explosive Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been the biggest flop for the Bengaluru-based franchise in IPL 2024. Barring one season, Maxwell hasn’t done anything for the team. He has been among the leading non-performers in the history of the tournament.

Meanwhile, former India wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has launched a scathing attack on the Aussie all-rounder. Parthiv called him the 'most overrated player' in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"glenn maxwell….HE IS THE MOST OVERRATED player in the history of ipl," Parthiv wrote on social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).

Notably, Maxwell has performed miserably in IPL 2024 so far. In eight matches, he has scored 36 runs at an average of 5.14 and  strike-rate of 97.29.
