Missing South Africa Test Cricket Series ‘Would Impact Rohit Sharma’

While injured Rohit Sharma will miss the Tests in South Africa, the ODIs after that will see Kohli being unavailable for the Indian team.

Rohit Sharma was also the second-highest run-getter in Test cricket this year after England captain Joe Root. In India's last Test against England at The Oval in September, Sharma was the 'Player of the Match' for his wonderful knock of 127 off 256 balls in India's 157-run win.

BCCI wanted clarity between the longest and shorter formats of the game to avoid any kind of confusion. Finally, it was left to the selectors to take a call and they decided to hand over the reins of the ODI team to Rohit

The Indian cricket team on Wednesday announced their 18-member squad for the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa starting from December 26.

Among foreign players, Glenn Maxwell, Jos Buttler, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Anrich Nortje were retained. All-rounder Kieron Pollard made the cut for Mumbai Indians whereas Moeen Ali was chosen over the likes of Sam Curran, Faf du Plessis and Dwayne Bravo at Chennai Super Kings.

Ravi Shastri has been replaced by former India captain Rahul Dravid as India head coach while Rohit Sharma is India's new T20 captain.

There are two types of Indian Cricket fans during world events. 1) Beat Pakistan even if you lose the Cup. 2) Win the Cup, nothing else matters. Unfortunately, the Indian team had irked both types of fans in the first two games itself.
