India captain Rohit Sharma’s heroics ensured India’s big win against Afghanistan in a double super over in the 5-match T20I series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. With this victory, Rohit Sharma has now become the first batter to score 5 T20I hundreds.

He also has the most T20I wins (42) as India’s captain in Men’s cricket. The Indian captain who got out with zeros in the first two matches against Afghanistan showed immense grit and determination as he stitched together an amazing partnership with Rinku Singh.

The two hitters took Team India from 22/4 in 4.3 overs to 212/4 in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma seemed to be in top form as he was batting with a strike rate of around 100. Rinku Singh also played well and scored an impressive 69 runs in the first innings.

Interestingly, Rohit Sharma batted thrice and top-scored all three times. After India’s terrific batting, Afghanistan also batted well and scored 212, leading to a super over. However, the first superover also ended in a draw, leading to the second superover.  

Rohit Sharma hit three sixes and one four in both super overs combined, sealing a thrilling win for the ‘Men in Blue’. Rohit has now joined compatriots Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar as Indians lead the chart of batters with the most centuries in each format of the game.

Veteran Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has the most centuries in the Test format while Virat Kohli has 50 ODI centuries and Rohit Sharma has 5 T20I centuries.
