The Orissa High Court on Wednesday (Aug 17) directed actress Varsha Priyadarshini to appear before Delhi Police within 15 days in connection with casteist remark case. A case was earlier filed against the actress for allegedly making casteist remarks against a staff of her husband and BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty.

The court’s direction came up with the directive while hearing a petition filed by several cashew farmers from Balikuda block in Jagatsinghpur district. The farmers, who have been cultivating since 1983, had moved the court against the encroachment case lodged by the administration.

The court observed that there is no relevance of hearing the petitions after the directive of the Supreme Court.
