Huge relief for Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim. The Orissa High Court on Wednesday ordered a stay on his conviction by a vigilance court. The vigilance court had sentenced the legislator to three years rigorous imprisonment in Odisha Rural Housing & Development Corporation (ORHDC) corruption case.

There are cracks in the Jagmohan of Srimandir in Puri. The affidavit of Orissa High Court appointed amicus curie NK Mohanty revealed this.In his affidavit, Mohanty highlighted his visit to the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri and Sun Temple in Konark.

In its 15-page verdict, the State’s apex court treated the case as a rare and exceptional case and observed that the conviction has serious consequences upon the membership of the sitting MLA.

The rule pertaining to fitment of high security registration plate (HSRP) in vehicles came under judicial scrutiny.

After winding up OTM, the state government had filed a petition for liquidation of the company in the High Court.

Additional Solicitor General appearing on behalf of the petitioner contended that the hearing of petition against Ashok Mohanty is pending with the Special Court for a long time due to the interim order passed by the Orissa High Court. 

Mohapatra was ill for some days and battling old age related health issues.

The next hearing of the petition will be held in the High Court on August 30.

The court heard two separate petitions on Srimandir Jagamohan and Konark temple on Tuesday after a gap of two years. 

The matter is listed for hearing today by Justice Biraja Prasanna Satpathy.
