SS Rajamouli-directed Baahubali 2: The Conclusion released exactly 7 years ago on April 28, 2017. The first part of the movie had already established a fan following for Prabhas as Baahubali and the entire team of Baahubali, including Katappa, Sivagami Devi, and the kingdom of Mahishmati. Baahubali: The Beginning, released in 2015, was a huge blockbuster and gave the entire team a pan India recognition.

But it was Baahubali 2 that took the Indian movie across the globe. Originally made for the South Indian audience in Telugu and Tamil, it was also released in other Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Kannada, Bhojpuri, and Bangla. This step ensured that the movie reached across the nooks and corners of the country and for the first time also opened up doors for regional movies to extend their reach to non-Telugu/Tamil-speaking audiences.

Pan-Indian movie term became so common after Baahubali

Post the massive success of Baahubali 1 and Baahubali 2, the movie industry saw a massive rise in pan-Indian movies. The foundation of the success Allu Arjun’s Pushpa, Yash’s KGF, and Rishab Shetty’s Kantara enjoyed was laid down by Baahubali. It was the vision of SS Rajamouli as the director that ensured that Indian movies not only get a following across the country but worldwide.

During one of his interviews with Forbes, Rajamouli said that a movie as big as Baahubali creates a big impact, and when one thing works in such a huge way it is normal for all the filmmakers to get attracted to the way it was produced and created and follow suit. And the impact of Baahubali on Indian cinema was mammoth and which is why nowadays more number of Hindi movies are releasing in multiple regional languages.

Audience became more open to regional content

Baahubali also proved that if entertaining content or high-quality content is made available to the audience on the right platform and in their language they are ready to watch it irrespective of the fact whether the actors are from regional cinema or Bollywood. Baahubali proved that content is king and the audience is open to appreciating the cinema beyond the culture and language barrier if it is entertaining and impactful.
