As per IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur in several parts of the State starting from today. A ‘Yellow Warning’ has also been issued in this regard.
The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has predicted thunderstorm activities in 10 districts of the state in the next 24 hours.
As per IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, Boudh district recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43 degrees on Saturday. However, several parts of the State are likely to experience moderate drop in day temperature due to thunderstorm activities in coming days.
As per a bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD, Bhubaneswar, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Deogarh.
As per IMD’s Regional Centre, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur in 11 districts of the State in the next 24 hours. A yellow warning for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh districts have been issued.
As per the latest forecast, the conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of South Arabian Sea, entire Maldives and adjoining areas of Lakshadweep and some more parts of Comorin area during the next 48 hours.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50- 60 kmph and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal,Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khordha.
As per IMD, the cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha and neighbourhood extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked.

Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall is very likely to occur over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during next five days.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind reaching 40-50 kmph in one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khordha, Puri, Dhenkanal in 24 hours.
As per IMD, It is very likely to move north-westwards and intensify gradually into a depression during the subsequent 48 hours.
As the system is situated far away from Odisha, its impact will not be seen now. However, the current weather conditions in the form of rainfall activities in Odisha are under the influence of Nor’wester, said IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.
As per IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal in the next 24 hours.
The Collectors in the State have been put on alert and we hope to get a clear picture in the next two to three days, said Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra on Wednesday.
