Thunderstorm triggered rain to lash Odisha districts till April 14, IMD issues yellow warning

As per IMD, there will be no large change in the maximum temperature (day temperature) for the next 24 hours thereafter fall by 2-3 degree Celsius over the districts of Odisha.

Thunderstorm Alert For Odisha

Under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, a low-pressure area has formed over central parts of south Bay of Bengal on Monday.

It is likely to move northwestwards over southwest Bay of Bengal till April 8 and thereafter likely to move nearly northwards over westcentral Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours, informed the India Meteorological Department.

As per IMD, there will be no large change in the maximum temperature (day temperature) for the next 24 hours thereafter fall by 2-3 degree Celsius over the districts of Odisha. Maximum temperature (day temperature) very likely to be equal and above 40 degree Celsius in the isolated pockets districts of Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bhawanipatna,Bolangir, Titlagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Paralakhemundi, and Rourkela.

The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm activities in several parts of Odisha till April 14, 2025.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,  Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.04.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 11.04.2025)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 11.04.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 12.04.2025)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.
