The regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar has forecast Kalbaisakhi, or Nor'wester, set to hit coastal and northern regions of Odisha today. This weather phenomenon is anticipated to bring rainfall accompanied by substantial lightning strikes and thunderstorms, offering much-needed relief from the scorching heat across several areas.
Despite the impending storm, meteorologists predict no significant temperature changes in Odisha over the forthcoming four days. However, a slight shift in wind patterns is expected from tomorrow onwards, which may influence local weather conditions.
“There will be no large change in the maximum temperature (day temperature) during the next 4 to 5 days over the districts of Odisha. Maximum temperature (day temperature) very likely to be equal and above 40 degrees C in the isolated pockets districts of Bolangir, Sundargarh,” IMD said.
Kalbaisakhi, typically occurring from March to June, is known for its violent thunderstorms and has been eagerly awaited by locals as respite from oppressive heat.
The regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar remains vigilant, prepared to provide timely updates and cautions to ensure public safety during this period. Residents are advised to stay informed about the latest developments and adhere to safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
Kalbaisakhi brings a peculiar blend of destruction and relief, balancing the wrath of nature with the promise of cooler weather.
