Rayagada is a district in southern Odisha, which became a separate district in October 1992. Its population consists mainly of tribes, primarily the Kondhs and the Soras. It is a home to Dangaria Kandhas, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribe Group live in the terrains of Niyamagiri hill ranges in Rayagada and Kalahandi district.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said the fresh low pressure system is likely to become more marked during subsequent 24 hours and move west-northwestwards thereafter.
As per sources, the second system may intensify into a depression triggering heavy rainfall. The enhanced rainfall activity may dampen the Independence Day celebrations in the State on August 15.
A low pressure system is likely form over Northwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal around August 7, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
Medical teams have been deployed in these areas to provide instant service to patients.
Majhi attributed the spread of the disease to intake of contaminated water and lack of nutritious food.
Mishra has directed the health workers to ensure proper food for the tribal children, proper sanitation and awareness in the villages. He said steps are being taken to rehabilitate the tribal students to nutrition rehabilitation centres and also stressed on intake of boiled water.
So far, 96 persons of Rayagada are down with cholera and seven died of it.

After witnessing incessant rainfall last week, Odisha is all set to get some relief as no major warning for heavy rainfall has been issued by the India Meteorological Department for the next 2 to 3 days.
The two tourists from Podapadi area under Kashipur block had visited the tourist site but were stuck in the middle of the river after the water-level swelled up due to incessant rainfall.
A team of the Health department visited the affected villages to take stock of the situation.
Though the school has got a new building which was inaugurated in December, school authorities are not using it as it was constructed with low quality materials.
As per IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, the southwest monsoon has entered through South Odisha today. While it has fully covered the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur, it has partially touched parts of Nuapada, Kalahandi and Rayagada districts.
The arrival of monsoon is certainly a positive sign as it will be crucial for agriculture. As per IMD, some parts of southern Odisha experienced rainfall activities today.
IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has predicted thunderstorm activities in several parts of the State till June 17.
