A boy was charred to death after coming in contact with the high-voltage power cables while he was taking a selfie on the roof of a goods train at Bhalumaska Railway Station under Kalyansinghpur Police limits in Rayagada.

Two other boys were also injured in the incident and were rushed to Rayagada hospital for treatment in critical condition.

As per reports, the deceased identified as Debendra Nayak from Bartibali village under Kashipur block was in Bhalumaska to attend a marriage party.

Nayak along with two others climbed atop a goods train halting at the station to take selfies. However, they were electrocuted after coming in contact with the high-tension electricity cable overhead. While Nayak was charred to death on the spot, two others sustained critical injuries.

The RPF launched a probe after sending the body for autopsy.

In December 2020, a youth was charred to death in a similar fashion while clicking selfie by climbing atop a train at Paralakhemundi Railway Station.
