Odia music composer Abhijit Majumdar’s health condition remains critical: AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director

The health condition of renowned Odia music composer Abhijit Majumdar, who is undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, remains critical. This was informed by Dr Ashutosh Biswas, executive director of the premier health institute, on Saturday.

The health condition of renowned Odia music composer Abhijit Majumdar, who is undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, remains critical. This was informed by Dr Ashutosh Biswas, executive director of the premier health institute, on Saturday.

Sharing details about the health condition of Majumdar, Dr Biswas said, “He is still in the ICU on a ventilator support. His condition is still critical. A committee comprising doctors from multiple departments have been formed for his treatment, and we are trying to provide the best treatment.” 

“Though his condition remains critical, it has not deteriorated over time. We are trying our best, and let’s hope for the best,” Dr Biswas added.

Earlier on Sunday, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling visited AIIMS Bhubaneswar and reviewed Majumdar’s health condition with doctors and family members.  He had assured that the Odisha government would bear all medical expenses and had directed that a special medical team be engaged in his treatment. For specialised care, consultations with AIIMS Delhi will also be arranged.

As per reports, Majumdar had been suffering from multiple health issues, including hypertension, hypothyroidism, and chronic liver disease, before slipping into a coma. He has been placed on a ventilator, and while his organs are functioning normally so far. However, doctors have detected a vitamin deficiency. He remains in the ICU under ventilator support.
