Youth held from Vani Vihar area for slitting boy’s throat

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested a youth from Vani Vihar area for allegedly slitting the throat of a five-year-old boy at Durgamandap slum in Satyangar area under Kharvela Nagar police limits here.

The arrested person, Akash Behera, is a Plus II Science student and neighbour to the victim. He had fled the spot after committing the crime.

Sources said Behera took away the five-year-old boy while he was playing with friends near his home and slit the throat.

The boy, who was rescued in a critical condition, was initially rushed to the Capital Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack.

Sources at police said the reason behind the crime can be ascertained after questioning of Behera.
