The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has designated 13 holidays for May 2024. These include public holidays, regional holidays, and the usual closures on second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays. 

For state-specific festivals, banks will remain closed only in those respective states. 

The RBI categorises these holidays under three headings: Negotiable Instruments Act, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks' Closing of Accounts.

Here's the list of holidays for May 2024:

May 1: Labour Day or Maharashtra Day

May 5: Weekend

May 7: Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 phase 3 (Banks closed in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Panaji, Raipur)

May 8: Birthday of Rabindranath Tagore

May 10: Akshaya Tritiya

May 12: Weekend

May 13: Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 phase 4 voting (Banks closed in Srinagar)

May 16: State Day

May 19: Weekend

May 20: Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 phase 5 (Banks closed in Belapur and Lucknow)

May 23: Buddha Purnima

May 25: Nazrul Jayanti and Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 phase 6

May 26: Weekend
