Visitors witness rare melanistic tiger cubs at Nandankanan for first time

Bhubaneswar: Today is the first birthday of as many as four tiger cubs of Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP). Though there was no special birthday party organised as the country mourns the demise of the former President of India A.P.J Abdul Kalam, visitors to the zoo had a visual treat as the four of them came out for the first time.

The four cubs – Subharnshu, Krishna, Snehashish and Ani – were seen in a very playful mood cuddling up with their mother Sneha as they were brought to the display enclosure for the first time.

All the four cubs are now housed in the enclosure 30-A of the park with their mother while their father Manish is kept in enclosure 30-B.
“Due to the nation-wide mourning, we did not celebrate their birthday’s. However, we shifted them to the display enclosure for the first time. For the first time ever across the globe that the visitors will get to see Melanistic tigers,” said Sudarshan Panda, director Nandankanan Zoo.
