Probe into Cuttack Drainage office bombing begins
Cuttack: The commissionerate police on Tuesday began investigation into the bombing at the Drainage office in the city here on Monday afternoon.
Police, during preliminary investigation, suspects that the incident could be a fallout of awarding tender for construction work.
Sources said two unidentified bike-borne youths had hurled a country bomb at the Drainage office in Gandarpur area of the city at about 2 PM on Monday and fled the area. However, the bomb had missed the target and hit the main gate of the office building.
Talking to the media persons, Pradip Sagar Duria, executive engineer, Drainage Division, Cuttack, said there was no threatening to any official and staff of the office by any persons.
“We were at a review meeting presided over by the chief engineer when we received the news that a bomb was thrown at the main gate of the office building. We immediately informed the police which rushed to the police and started investigation,” he said.
Asked about the cause of the incident, the executive engineer said that the Barrage Division would lodge an FIR about the incident with the police.
