Astarang murder: CBI probe demanded

Astarang: Demanding a CBI probe into the quadruple murder in Dinadiyan Nagar village in Puri district of Odisha, hundreds of angry locals ransacked the tehsil office and locked the government offices including the block office in the area.

The villagers also shut down the Astarang market and block roads.

Earlier on the day, the residents of the area raised slogans in front of the Astarang police station. They also met the local tehsildar and submitted a memorandum demanding CBI inquiry into the ghastly murder of four members of a family.

The locals alleged that the Crime Branch is not investigating properly into the murder.

Notably, Dinabandhu Mallick, a retired district inspector of schools, and his wife and two daughters were found murdered with throat slit on September 21 night at his home in Dinadiyan Nagar village under Astaranga police limits.

A day after the incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered the Crime Branch to investigate the case.

The state investigating agency already questioned the nephew, brothers, daughter and son-in-law of the deceased retired DI.
