Irked villagers reportedly staged a road blockade at Patharakhani Chhak demanding immediate electric connection to their village

The authorities said that most trails in the park have become slushy under the impact of rainfall for last few days and thick blanket of fog engulfing the national park could become dangerous for the travelers or safari, so it has been decided to keep visitors away from the biosphere reserve. 

The famous Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district is all set to welcome back tourists this year from November 1.

Protesting the incident, hundreds of JMM workers today used placards with slogans against BJD during their agitation and placed them near Biju Patnaik's statue. Even though the police were present at the spot, it has been alleged that it did not stop the protesters.

Dr Dhananjay Soren, a doctor at Sukruli CHC said, “The woman was admitted to the hospital by the Fire Services staff at around 7 pm. The survivor told us that she had been gang-raped by two men. She has received critical injuries on her head and private parts. She has been given primary treatment here,” he added.
