In Nischintapur village, Odisha, a man named Babuli Mahakud decapitated Gouri Behera with an axe possibly due to superstitious beliefs. Villagers overpowered Babuli, and the Badasahi Police arrested him and seized the weapon.
In Odisha, three family members were killed by a wild elephant while sleeping in their backyard. The elephants had previously been driven away but returned unreported by the forest department. This incident highlights ongoing human-elephant conflicts and the community's frustration over insufficient preventive actions.
A woman from Bhubaneswar and three others came in two four-wheelers to Shala Mundali road late on Wednesday night. The woman identified as Bijaylaxmi Mohapatra from Bhubaneswar and a local woman BJD worker were allegedly distributing cash when local people informed police about the incident.
Anand Kumar Agarwal, a director from Siddharth Sponge and Power Pvt Ltd, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in Bhubaneswar for illegal and excess mining in Odisha. The arrest occurred under the PMLA 2002 provisions due to violations in iron ore extraction beyond permissible limits.
